Implementing a Strategic Management Office
CHALLENGES
● New CEO was hired to turnaround a fashion industry company
● Lack of project management expertise
● Need to develop 14 main initiatives, 7 of which the Board set as a goal related to the executive’s bonuses
ACTIONS TAKEN
● Conducted workshop with managers about Project Management
● Developed a project management tool in MS Excel with the same capabilities as MS Project
● Supported managers on the definition of objectives, timeline and KPIs for their projects
● Designed presentation templates and meeting model with company Executive Directors and Board
● Assisted operation for the first 3 meetings with the Executive Directors and the first Board meeting
RESULTS
● Established the Strategic Management Office in 9 weeks
● Left the legacy of project management in the company with rollout of PMO to all other projects, being part of their management model
● Developed tools that reduced Strategic Management Office Manager routine from 3 days to 1 day, freeing up time for more analytical tasks
